What is a Bamboo Floor? Bamboo is being promoted as the modern day alternative to traditional hardwood floors. Manufacturing of Bamboo is eco-friendly in that it is not farmed but harvested from its natural environment. Bamboo flooring comes in various different colours and three distinctive styles, being horizontal, vertical and strand-woven. Most Bamboo products come pre-finished with a UV resistent polyurethane coating. Bamboo is manufactured in either a tongue-groove glued together or a click lock system. Methods of fitting vary from gluedown or free-floating. Manufacturers claim Bamboo products to be 30% harder than solid Oak flooring. This however only relates to certain styles of Bamboo.
